Sometimes you just have to turn everything OFF. Turn off your phones, your tv, your wifi signal, and your distractions. I have been reminded recently that sometimes I can’t hear because the noise is simply too loud. It’s difficult not to be tuned in at a time like this…we’re literally STILL in a pandemic. It feels chaotic to turn on the news or log into social media. And it’s so easy to get sucked in.
Everyday we’re hearing about stories of death, wars, natural disasters, etc. It can really feel overwhelming if we let it. My mind is always racing and always thinking about the next thing on my to-do list so I have to be extremely intentional when it comes to finding joy and peace in chaos. Some things that have helped me are taking breaks from my favorite social media spaces and opting to read or walk barefoot outside near my plants. There are days where I disconnect and really focus on being present offline. I will admit it can be extremely challenging with a family, but when I’m at my breaking point I know it’s usually because I haven’t found joy or peace lately.
I encourage you to remember what brings you joy the next time you’re feeling overwhelmed . Do those things to find joy and peace in the midst of the chaos.
