Planting Instructions

You can start peppermint seeds indoors 8 – 10 weeks prior to the last spring frost or sow the seeds outdoors in partially shaded, moist, soil. Sow the herb seeds no more than 1/8 inch deep in loose soil.

Sowing Peppermint herb seeds is simple and a great way to bring this summertime favorite to the herb garden. Peppermint seeds can either be started indoors in starter trays 6 – 8 weeks before last frost, or wait until frost danger has passed, and directly sow the herb seeds outside in prepared beds. You should prune larger outside leaves to encourage more leaf growth. Young leaves and stems have the best flavor.

Mint should be harvested in the morning before the sun effects its volatile oils.
